Les and Dobbo visited Bluebell Lakes near Peterborough to fish one of the lakes and to see if it is venue they would consider for a 24 hour session, there are five lakes and a stretch of the river Nene and they chose to fish Bluebell lake itself.
Despite the fact they did not catch anything there were a considerable number of fishing topping and cruising the lake, The complex is a very well run commercial fishery and Les and Dobbo are planning to hold a 24 hour session later in the year when the nights are longer and warmer. Its location is not to far to travel and it is good value for money.
At the moment zigs are the preferred method of fishing and one of the fisherman who arrived as they were leaving gave them some valuable tips on the lakes and tactics to get the best results.
There was a pleasant surprise when Les noticed a movement in the tree right next to his swim later in the day, on investigation he found a mallard sitting on a nest of eggs and despite us being there all day she never moved and stuck to her task of hatching the eggs. Shame Dobbo doesn’t live a lot closer as it would be treat seeing them hatch and the young jumping from the tree into the water.
