Rob and Dobbo in the Fens

Rob and Dobbo started their fishing session on the Fens at Ponders Bridge, there was signs of silvers topping and a few swirling pike.

Despite a couple of dropped runs Rob did manage to hook up with a nice pike of 8 or 9lb.

Just before noon they decided to move to swims 150 to 153 on Glassmore Bank. Again both had dropped runs and this time no fish were caught.

Danny and Dobbo at Gingerbread

Danny and Dobbo fished Gingerbread with Danny in his usual swim and Dobbo trying a couple of new ones.

Danny had a couple of runs but didn't mange to hook up with any pike.

Dobbo did manage one jack and missed another, all in all a disappointing day considering the action we had the week before.

Dobbo in the Fens

Dobbo had another day in the fens searching for the elusive pike to no avail, despite trying various new swims plus the reliable Ponders Bridge where you nearly always get a jack nothing was caught.

However, not to be beaten he is going Rob on the banks of the Fens on Sunday, but before that he is hoping to join up with Danny at Gingerbread tomorrow.

The highlight of the day was a buuuteful sunset over Bevilles Leam.

Rob, Danny & Dobbo at Offord

Rob, Danny and Dobbo decided to fish the Great Ouse in Offord, Rob was keen to get fishing having only just got back from a 5 day trip in the Orkneys wildfowling.

It was very slow going but Dobbo did manage a small jack . . . Where are all the pike gone.

Dobbo @ North House

Dobbo had a couple of hours spare so decided to have a couple of hours before dark trying for pike at North House.

His efforts were rewarded with a good condition pike of about 6lb.

Dobbo in the Fens

Dobbo had a day on the Fens looking for new waters to fish.

He spent most of the time searching various swims on the 20ft and found some ideal places that deserve a session.

Morning Session

Danny and Dobbo tried their luck at Gingerbread and fished their regular swims round the back by the A428.

Danny had a purple spell of 3 fish in about 20mins, nice jack of about 6 to 7lbs a 18lb 4oz beauty and another jack of about 5 to 6lb.

Afternoon Session

The afternoon session took a little while to get going but finally Danny missed one and then had one of about 8 to 9lb, with Dobbo missing two then had one of 11lb 4oz

Dobbo had a couple of hours spare so popped down to C section in Offord for a spot of piking, despite best efforts no fish were caught.

Danny & Dobbo @ Offord

Danny and Dobbo decided to fish the Ouse river at Offord for pike, the day started slowly but Dobbo did get a jack pike of about 5 to 6lb. After a couple of moves Dobbo again hooked into a pike but it dropped the bait.

Dann, had a couple of runs but did not managed to hook into a fish, however with his final move of the day he did manage to land a jack and then a nice 8lb pike, great to see his persistence paid off.

Dobbo meanwhile had managed to hook into another pike, and this one was a better fish coming in at 15lb 1oz caught on a sprat.

Les, Andrew, William and Dobbo @ Gingerbread

We have two new members in The Grumblers, Andrew and William Bonnymen, Andrew is Les’s son and William is his grandson aged 9.

Being late October it was time to get the pike gear out, a number of runs were had by all, but only two fish landed, one a small jack by Les and the other a 7 to 8lb pike by William.

Danny popped down for while and had a brew, and a good day was had by all, lets hope it is not loo long before we are all back on the bank again.

Dobbo @ North House

No carp caught on this day session at North House but did foul hook a pike in its outer gill.

The pike was only about 4 to 5lb and as it was foul hooked no photo was taken.

Dobbo @ North House

Dobbo fished North House over a 48hour session and had two fish, the first fish was a 23lb 7oz mirror which was an old dark fish with what looked like old otter damage on the tail.

The second fish was a nice 28lb 2oz common, both fish were caught under the far bank on Acropalypse.

Danny @ McGregor

Danny fished McGregor in the last but one swim on the railway side, he lost one fish to a hook pull but did manage to land a large eel, the eel was nearly half the length of his 12ft rod so he estimated it at 5lb or even more.

Dobbo @ North House

After breaking his duck last week Dobbo again decided to give North House a go and was reward with three fish in the early hours of the morning on the Thursday.

The first fish was was approximately 12lb, the second weighed in at 22lb 7oz, with the third weighing in at 28lb on the nose, all fish were Common’s and hopefully Dobbo’s persistence at North House is now paying dividends.
